Tools
Tools and resources to help Arapahoe County residents understand county information and processes — especially property tax, metro districts, and the assessment process. Have an idea for another tool?
Metro district tax share tool
A metropolitan district1 is a type of local government that can charge property taxes in your neighborhood for things like roads, parks, and water. Often, part of that tax goes to paying off long-term debt (bonds). This tool helps you see what share of your total property tax goes toward your metro district's debt service.
1 For the formal definition of a metropolitan district, see Colorado Revised Statutes, Title 32 ( PDF ), especially pages 4–5.
If your property is not in a metro district, you do not need this tool. If you are unsure, you can look up your property on the state's Colorado Special Districts map.
I built this tool specifically for Arapahoe County residents to make hard-to-parse public data usable. The underlying mill levy information was already public, but not presented in a way that most people could easily digest. This app connects those dots in a repeatable, auditable, and transparent way so anyone can understand how much of their bill goes to metro district debt.
This tool is informational and not affiliated with Arapahoe County. It is based on publicly available mill levy data. Always verify details with official county sources. Not legal or tax advice.
Have an idea for another tool?
If you live in Arapahoe County and there is county information or a process you wish were easier to access or understand, I want to hear from you. I am especially interested in tools that use existing public data but make it clearer, more transparent, and more usable for residents.
